Law of Attraction: Following the Feeling
64Reading the Signs
Our feelings are the indicators of whether or not we are tuned in to our inner selves and desires. Where thoughts are indicative of what material form is coming to us, feelings will tell us whether the thoughts we are holding are moving us in the right direction. Obviously, we are either in alignment with our purpose and ourselves or we aren't quite making it work. A few Good questions to ask as we maneuver through life are: what is working for us? What makes us feel good? What doesn't? Do we have to keep doing what we are doing if it doesn't make us feel good? Is it worth quitting my job/relationship just to feel better? Does happiness come first or do we have to find external things or internal thoughts that make us feel good?
We are either going to be focused on something that vibrates with our being or we are not, and when we are not -or mostly not- we are not going to feel good. It is always a good idea to take a step back out of our daily chattering of the mind and evaluate how we feel. The emotions/feelings act as a barometer of our overall direction in life. They can tell us whether we are riding the wind towards what we want or whether we're struggling against an unstoppable and ever-present gust. In other words; you are traveling in this vehicle on the road of life, and the emotions/ feelings you are experiencing are the road signs. Good feelings will always point you onward and upward, or indicate that you are nearing your destination, while bad feelings would be equivalent of a wrong way sign, a red light or stop sign.
Feel Good Now
The best way to feel good is in the moment. By choosing to focus on creating a loving environment for ourselves, from the inside out, we pave a golden road towards wholeness. Those feelings will spiral out from our center and bring forth the joy that is waiting everywhere at every time.
A good exercise for creating a calm and loving
internal environment is deep breathing. Most of the time we are caught
up in the whirlwind of daily activities and our minds are not focused
internally. Our breath becomes shallow as we let the day's ups and
downs dictate how we are feeling. We may over-extend ourselves
throughout the day causing irritation within. When we take a little
time to do some deep breathing we are in touch with Spirit. It's like
making a phone call to the Source inside of us. It is so vital that we
are in touch with this Source. In fact, if we are too far apart from
it, we are alerted via the emotions and feelings that manifest as
tenseness in the body. All we ever really want is happiness, an ease of
being, health, inner peace. If we can find it in the moment then it
will cycle into our future as well.
Being Selfish
Selfishness is a topic that gets discussed quite a bit, when creating the life that we want is brought up. Most of us consider selfishness as an unwanted or bad quality. When the word selfishness is brought up, we may picture a fat oil tycoon, lounging sideways on a couch of money, eating barbecue ribs, drinking bourbon and tossing scraps to those working for him and equate selfishness and greed.
These are two entirely different expressions of being!
Greed is excessive, gratuitous and is actually a hindrance towards the good feeling we are aspiring for. It extends us too far away from our true nature, our wholeness, in the hopes of acquiring material wealth. Selfishness, however, is sometimes necessary. We must make time for our selves.
Sometimes, if we are feeling out of balance, it may be good to sit with ourselves, away from even those that we love. Although it may be perceived as being selfish it is absolutely necessary for our happiness. We may need to set out some time each and everyday to do so. Or perhaps a parent or friend is asking you to do something that you don't want to do, as a favor for them. It is not a sin to make feeling the way you want to feel a priority! If they are asking you to do or be something that is not aligning with the calling inside of you, just politely decline and explain to them that your happiness and good feeling come before their wishes.
Loving yourself is ultimately loving others and those
that do not understand you putting yourself first, don't put themselves
first. When you put yourself first you act as an example and an
inspiration to those who need it. You will radiate those peaceful
feelings inside and your vision of life the way you want it will grow from it. Those who are feeling the same inside will cooperate with you and those that are not will either change with you or drift out of your life.
Allowing
Once you have made a solid connection with the Source inside of you, you can stay in the zone of feeling good at all times. This is the ultimate test. Life may be raging all around you- can you remain calm, peaceful and connected to who you really are? Can you take a step back from the struggle of the chattering mind and get in touch with yourself? If you can, you will automatically know, through feeling, how you need to participate in any situation that you attract. You have to allow yourself to be happy. If there are jobs, people or circumstances in your life that are denying you of feeling good, take a step back and remember, you always have a choice in how you are feeling!
One last point on following feeling. True happiness must come from within. You have to allow it to happen. You can't go flitting about in the mind or in the world looking for it hiding in some location or enmeshed in some form. Happiness is all around us. It's energy permeates everything that is. The key is to allow yourself some room for it to blossom within you. Once you tap into it, you will know. The feeling is quite visceral and will leave you feeling a very deep peacefulness. Once we find that Peace, we truly become free to share it with others and express it in our way of Being.

You're right - true happiness does come from within. While external factors may contribute to momentary satisfaction, they cannot guarantee an abiding feeling of joy. :)
Brother Andrew...
Yes, that is correct! there is a misconception on selfishness. To love others and give them understanding, you must love yourself truly so you can be the reflection of your love and deeds. There´s nothing wrong with having a time with yourself, in fact, it is necessary. As it is the only way to connect with our God within. Selflessness can only be practiced when you´ve learned to love yourself!
